2026-27 Course Schedule for Catechism

A catechumen is someone who has formally begun preparing to be received into the Orthodox Church through baptism. In the ancient Church, the catechumenate could last several years and included regular participation in the services, prayer, and formal instruction in the Christian faith. Today, the process typically lasts six months to a year, depending on the individual and the direction of the priest and bishop. During this time, catechumens learn the teachings and practices of Orthodox Christianity while becoming increasingly rooted in the worship and life of the Church. Catechumen and Inquirer Course: Classes are held at 3:30 PM, each Saturday in the Parish Library. All are welcome, not just catechumens.
